Scope
The project involves the construction of a 170km electric traction railway line in Cairo, Egypt.

The US$2,000 million project includes the following:

  1. Construction of 11 new stations
  2. Construction of pedestrian ways
  3. Construction of other related infrastructure
  4. Laying of tracks
  5. Renovation of five stations on the existing line
  6. Installation of signalling boards
  7. Installation of elevators


Summary
The Ministry of Transport, Egypt (MoT), through National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) is undertaking the construction of the Cairo to 10th of Ramadan railway line in Cairo, Egypt.

The project involves the construction of 170km electric traction railway line comprising the Light Rail Transit Line and the Freight Line.

The Light Rail Transit Line consists of Section A, the branch line of 10th of Ramadan City and pass through Adly Mansour, Robaikey, Ramadan2; and Section B, the branch line of the New Governmental Capital pass from Robaikey, New Governmental Capital is a total length of 69.226km with 11 stations.

The Freight Line links the existing Cairo (Ain shams) to Suez Railway and Cairo-Zagazig Railway, with a total length of 40.657km.

The project also includes renewal and doubling the 45km existing railway line between Ain Shams City and Roubiky City, the construction of a 35km double line between Roubiky City and 10th of Ramadan City and a 27km double line between 10th of Ramadan and Belbis City.

It includes the laying of tracks, the renovation of five stations on the existing line, pedestrian ways, and the installation of signalling boards, elevators and other infrastructural activities.
